White Resin Fillings

A resin filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth. Resins are also used for aesthetic improvements of the smile by changing the color or reshaping teeth.

Resin fillings are placed in layers, typically using a light specialized to harden each layer. When the process is finished, we will shape the resin to fit the tooth. We then polish the resin to prevent staining and early wear.

Aesthetics are the main advantage of resins, since we can blend shades to create a color nearly identical to that of the actual tooth. Resins bond to the tooth to support the remaining tooth structure, which helps to prevent breakage and insulate the tooth from excessive temperature changes.

At K.L.O. Dental we place almost exclusively white resin fillings.
